Let’s talk! Beauty Trends 2018, K beauty, Eye Shadow Palettes, Makeup Looks, Makeup Trends 2018, 2018 Hair Trends, Skin Therapy and much more!
First, let’s give 2017 trends and looks a farewell and we grasp the Beauty trends 2018 hitting us now!
As the makeup trends of 2016 – 2017 left us gagging with overdrawn lips and the forever extending cat eyeliner, big flowing lashes, and heavy smokey shadows. Contouring became centre stage and Jlo and Kim K started sharing their contouring secrets. 2018 sets to take a more minimalist approach. Before we get started on whats hot in Beauty in 2018. let’s have a short recap of what Beauty meant for 2017.
K Beauty hit the market running in 2017 with their unusual use of ingredients in their skincare products which had the beauty market shook!
From rosy blushed eyeshadow palettes to limited colour range in their foundation products never seemed to deter customers from wanting to buy their products. K-Beauty products were in high demand and lead the skincare market and will continue to dominate in 2018.
The Makeup world in 2017. Rihanna set the tone with her beauty line Fenty Beauty by being inclusive of all skin tones. With an astounding 40 shades in her Pro Filt’r Soft Matte long wear Foundation line. Fenty Beauty changed the game for foundation forever!

Cosmetic companies are receiving bad feedback for nondiverse colour ranges, for example, the highly anticipated launch of Tarte Foundation line getting backlashes after launching only a few colours from their line. Beauty enthusiasts and influence-rs were appalled by the decision to release a limited amount of colours at launch, which angered the Beauty community and prompted bad reviews which would have been very detrimental to Tarte cosmetic Company.
Braided Eyebrows – Beauty Trend of 2017
Wavy Eyebrows – Beauty Trends 2017
Brows were bold some were ombre and we saw weird trends for brows in 2017. From braided eyebrows to wavy eyebrows that filled our Instagram feeds. The most popular product used by many makeup gurus is the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade collection.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics – Beauty Killer Eye Shadow Palette.
Eyeshadow looks were bold with smoked out eyes and intensely deepened cut creases in every colour imaginable. Lathered with cat eye winged liner in every length. Finished off with a touch of metallic shine in the inner corner of the eye to add some sparkle and to top it all off big luscious eyelashes and coated lower lashes to complete the makeup look that everyone desired. Jeffree Star launched an amazing palette which I still love to this day is the Jeffree Star Cosmetics Beauty Killer Palette.
Liquid lipsticks were also a staple in 2017 and had customers queuing up for Celebrity Branded products. One of being, Kylie Jenner from Kylie Cosmetics launched her line of Lip Kits and was/is very successful.

The ease of use and the long wear were some of the key selling points of the product. Which in itself sparked a trend and had other Beauty companies releasing their own Liquid lip lines. Jeffree Star came to the table with his own brand Jeffree Star Cosmetics Velour Liquid lips and is to this day one of my most favourite products to use. The biggest selling to date is his Velour liquid lip in the shade Androgyny.

His bold sometimes playful approach to his colour range had the beauty community singing praise. Not only was his line of Liquid lips used as a lipstick but it is also safe for the eyes so it was used in some astounding high fashion makeup looks.
Highlighted cheekbones, noses, cupids bows, sometimes the peaks of the shoulders and clavicles was a huge trend in 2017. Companies cash in on the trend as customers required that glittery and sometimes intense shimmery glow. Again in my opinion Jeffree Star for me lead the highlighting game with a multitude of colours in his Skin frost Highlighter range.

Some were a little too quirky for example his black highlighter but is amazing for that shimmery black smokey eye look. His pan size proves to be one of largest highlighters you can buy and is very affordable. Anastasia Beverly Hills had one of my favourites too, called Glow Kit.

Different contour placement for different face shapes.
Contrary to popular to belief the ideal face shape is oval. In modern times, however, we encourage each and everyone to embrace your natural features. Contouring correctly can vastly improve your overall makeup look. Contouring is still very popular in 2018. Not only does it minimize the imperfections of the face shape but can chisel and carver out the hollows of the cheeks and can thin out the nose. My go-to product for contouring has to be two products from Anastasia Beverly. There is a contour Cream Kit or the powder contour kit. I am not usually a fan of cream makeup but this product is easily blendable and leaves your face looking snatched! Be mindful of which colour palette you choose. They are available is Light to Medium and Dark.

Hair Trends of 2017 were vibrant luxurious colours and pastels tints all complimented with deep roots. One of the most influential Colour Masters with his own product line is Guy Tang. Who came to the game with his product Mydentity, and lead the way with high fashion colours.
His balayage technique and the way he blurs and blends his colour creations are a feast for the eyes. He created a media stir as he traveled the world to showcase his incredible products and talent. His youtube channel displays his genius work on popular you tubers and models.
His work still brightens up my Instagram feed to this very day.
K-Beauty – From Glass skin to K-Pop star celebrity endorsed products. We are seeing Korea makeup trends on our Instagram feeds with a soft natural approach makeup. Soft rose coral, natural brown earthy tone, muted pinks and purple colours in eyeshadow palettes. Fresh dewy skin and lips, sets the base for many of their makeup looks.
The popularity of the usual ingredient properties of Korean skincare product is alluring customers and making them a stand out from the rest of the beauty companies. With the rise of J-Beauty, K-Beauty doesn’t seem to be taking any pitfalls in the near future.
Makeup Trends for 2018 – From 2017 being so bold in the approach to make up we are seeing a shift to the more boyish nature of makeup trends. Less is more approach is the main factor of makeup in 2018. From natural eyelashes barely enhanced by mascara to natural eyebrows only being slightly shaded. Makeup in 2018 is sure to leave some of the, some might say faux pars behind that we saw in 2017.
Hair Trends for 2018 – This year Hairstyles will be shorter in length and is set to be full-length colour with soft toning. Short whispy soft cuts will be lighting up our Instagram feeds with a more natural toning and highlighting. Hair is simple and easily manageable which will mean styling times will be less. That will be amazing considering the fast-paced world we live in, in 2018.
Skincare – Even though many of us are seeking quick fixes. The key to good skin care is prevention. A healthy diet is important to keep your skin looking good and stress therapies are 2nd to none to keep those frown lines from deepening. Most skincare products are target specific, 2018 seems to merge several targets into single products.
