Skincare is where beauty begins. Taking care of your skin is utmost important. We have too many expectations of what skincare products can do for us, we forget that the key to amazing skin starts with a healthy diet, exercise and keeping hydrated.
Let us kick things off with my most favourite cleanser I have been using for years.
This cleanser, in my opinion, is one of the best. I love full coverage foundation. So I need a cleanser that removes every ounce of makeup from my mug. Prior to using this product I used to use Loreal skin care. Until one day I went to a pharmacy and the customer rep handed me a bundle of tester sachets and the rest is history. To use, take a small amount about the size of a dime on the fingertips and in light circular motion distribute the product all over the face because it is formulated for the eye area as well, this product has a dual purpose and I don’t need an eye makeup remover. Rinse the cleanser off the skin with warm water and take a warm damp cloth to help remove residue.
You can call me old school. I have been using toner since I left beauty school a (cough cough) years ago. For me, toner furthermore removes leftover makeup and cleanser that I may have missed (sometimes I am in a hurry). It tightens the pores and refreshes the skin and this baby also hydrates which I love. To use, apply a small amount to a couple of cotton pads and lightly tap all over the face, avoiding the eye area.
Moisturizer is probably one of the most important steps in a skincare regime. This product is probably one of the most used products I have on this list. Sometimes the weather can really dry out my skin so I need extra rehydration and this does it all for me. My skins left feeling soft and smooth and is great under makeup or worn alone. To use, take a small amount of moisturizer about the size of a pea on your fingertips, then lightly press into the skin. Try not to pull the skin or rub in too hard because we do this twice per day we do not want to encourage unnecessary wrinkling.
Eye care is important. The skin around the eye area is very sensitive so we need to use products that are specific to the eye. I use an eye product once a day, usually at night. It helps to reduce puffiness, dark circles and helps to keep the eye area moisturized. To use, take a small amount about the size of a pea on one fingertip (I usually use the third finger or the ring finger) and tap some product on to the other third finger then tap it lightly into the eye area, top and bottom also make sure to get that brow area avoiding the eyeball.
I have tested a few night creams over time and my results were, some were too heavy and stained my pillowcase. While this product is a little bit on the pricey side, on the other hand, is perfection. Not too heavy and not too greasy. Night creams are formulated to work while you are resting and keeps you hydrated during the night. To use apply a small amount to the fingertips, dot all over the face and using your fingers press into skin.
The rest of the products on this list are recommended but not essential. They are treatment products which are used once or twice a week.
Exfoliating the skin helps to gently slough off dull skin layers and remove impurities. It helps to smooth skin and is a product I use once or twice per week. To use, take a small amount of the product on the fingertips (You may like to dampen the hands before dispensing the product on your fingertips. That is personal preference.) and in a circular motion, distribute all over the face avoiding the eye area. ONCE AGAIN AVOID THE EYE AREA. This can cause lesions to the eyeball so please be careful with this type of product.
This product is the only one that I use, that is not Lancome. It has been reviewed by Beauty Youtubers a countless number of times which is what sold me the product in the first place. Apply with a synthetic foundation or the application brush provided, in an even layer all over the face avoiding brow, mouth and eye area. (I use a synthetic foundation brush because I found I had more control over the product) Let the product dry which is usually around 20-30 mins and peel away which is the fun part.
That sums up my skincare routine. My daily regime usually takes 10 mins. I know it is a lot of products and quite pricey but in my opinion is a worthwhile investment.
I hope I have helped at least one person out there. I know for a fact that everyone is different and the products featured in this post may not work as well for you as they do for me.
As always, thanks for being here. I appreciate each and every one of you.
